When I talk about this place I always accidentally call it “the secret garden”. This slip of the tongue is easy to understand though as its rather hard to find if you don’t know where it is!
It’s tucked away in a little courtyard in the centre of Sevenoaks town, so it feels like a local’s secret and off the beaten path in terms of chain restaurants like Pizza Express, Prezzo and Zizzis that you also find in Sevenoaks.
The restaurant has an outdoor terrace all centred around a big old gnarled tree with fairy lights hanging in it. It is so nice to sit outside there in the summer, and in the winter they build a winter kiosk which serves mulled wine and Baileys hot chocolate.
I like the food menu here as it is nice and healthy and there will be something there to suit any taste.
I can definitely recommend the Buddha Bowl, but unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of it (but there is still time). But it looks lovely and colourful with apricot quinoa, refried chickpeas, triple cooked sweet potato wedges, josper grilled broccoli, grilled halloumi, flaked almonds, pomegranate, avocado, spiralized vegetable noodle salad and sumac yoghurt.
Last time I was there I was feeling healthy, so went for the Omega 3 super salmon (above), which is blackened cajun salmon, avocado and tomato salsa, chargrilled broccoli, triple cooked sweet potato wedges and pumpkin seeds. It was very tasty and filling as well.
Lots of people will know that the way to my heart is through gin and tonic and I thought I had died and gone to heaven when the waiter asked me what “garnish” I would like in my gin. I went for gin and a cucumber and watermelon tonic with blackberry and grapefruit garnish. Such a good meal and would definitely come back again.
We also went to their pop-up Jingle Bell bar for hot chocolate with Baileys and Amaretto. It was really lovely and Christmassy, and you can sit outside under heated lamps.
Make sure you get yourself down there!
