Eating out in Sevenoaks: Basil Review

I went for brunch twice last weekend…

I have been intending to go for brunch at Basil’s in Sevenoaks all summer, but I kept putting it off because during the summer I wanted to sit outside as much as possible and that meant Fegos (which has now sadly closed, god rest his soul).

Basil’s looks really cosy from the outside because it has those trendy hipster naked light bulbs hanging in the window (so trendy and hip that I went and got one for my bedroom). So, now that the weather has turned, it was time to visit Basil.

The Basil’s breakfast menu consists of all the classics and also caters for vegans, which is a plus. I had the smashed avocado with chili on toast with halloumi, balsamic vinegar, rocket salad and toasted seeds. The height of the toast was amazing when it arrived and you get what I can only describe as a ‘slab of toast’ – it looked more like a door stopper. It was so filling but oh so tasty.

My friend Beth got the American pancakes with Greek yoghurt, honey and fresh berries.

Their salad bar looked absolutely amazing as well with quiches, sausage rolls and vegetable salads, and it is all prepared fresh every morning using local suppliers. I will will definitely be coming back to sample it.

The cafe is very popular with locals who want to support local businesses and get away from the chain cafes and restaurants.

Definitely one of the top cafes in Sevenoaks!
