Where to Brunch in London: Aubaine Selfridges Review

When looking for a good place to brunch in London, it’s hard to know where to begin in such a big city. I am one of those people who, when looking for a place to eat, would also like to eat in a nice setting with nice interior design and/or a nice view – I don’t ask for much right? So if I am seated in a part of the restaurant that I do not particularly like, I will always ask if we can sit somewhere else – much to the embarrassment of my British father. I have learnt this trait from my Swedish mother who has no qualms about pointing out when something is wrong.

Anyway, I was looking for a suitable place to take my mother for a birthday brunch in London before a day of shopping and Aubaine in Selfridges caught my attention on (oh yes you guessed it) Instagram. What attracted me was the beautiful blooms that hang from the ceiling of the restaurant, which creates an oasis away from the crowds of Selfridges – a cave of flowers, which is reflected in the mirrors on every wall.

What we ate

I went for the avocado on cereal toast with poached eggs, slow roasted cherry tomatoes, toasted seeds and extra toasted feta. This was really yummy and I would definitely get this again. There is just something magical about the combination of eggs and avocado!
My mum went for the Full French, which is Toulouse sausage, scrambled eggs, Portobello mushroom, Alsace bacon, baked beans, potato rΓΆsti, kale and slow roasted tomatoes. We were so impressed with the size of the Full French breakfast, so definitely go for that option if you are hungry!

The service here is very polite, but a bit slow and forgetful, for example we had to ask three times for our jug of water to be delivered to our table and my mother never received the side of toast that she had asked for (but we were glad it didn’t arrive as the Full French was so huge!), despite being charged for it. But this didn’t ruin our fun and the portions were of a very good size, it is a lovely setting and the brunch menu is very good.

I would recommend going here with your mother or girlfriends as a welcome break from a shopping day on busy Oxford Street.

Will definitely come back again.
